Hello Ladies!! (October 24th update!)
We are all so excited about the upcoming reunion! Looks like we'll have 191 former Golden Girls coming together for a very special weekend. We have women coming from as far away as England, as well as, from the very first line for the anniversary event.
People keep asking, "is it too late to register?" We're told by the Alumni Association that you can still register even at this date (10/24/09). If you register now, the banquet might show as sold out--however, we are adding outside seating and are accomodating those who just missed the initial cut-off point. If you want to attend the banquet, you need to (re)register for it...or, at least put in the 'notes' section, "add me to the banquet waiting list." The cocktail party is not full. I can't speak for the Saturday tailgate party in the PMAC, either...nor tickets. You'll just have to ask the Alumni Association. Their phone number is 225-578-3838. Ask for Trudi or Jason.
New! LSU Golden Girl Alumni Luncheon!...We are going to offer at this time what we hope will be the first of an annual event...a Golden Girl Alumni Luncheon. This will occur from 11:00 am-1:00 pm on Friday, October 30th at Galatoire's Bistro in Baton Rouge. There will be a limited number of seats for this first luncheon. The cost will be a flat $35 for the meal. If interested, contact Pam Matassa. The menu is below:

A few important points:
1. REGISTRATION. You must be registered with the Alumni Association for the weekend event, even if you do not plan to perform at halftime. While we have been collecting information on alumni Golden Girls, the Band Department does not handle the registration part of the alumni weekend. The registration coordinator is Jason Ramezan, who works for the Alumni Association. It is his staff who coordinates the reunion weekend. You MUST register with the Alumni Association in order to participate. If you have special questions, you can

2. PREGAME RECOGNITION. All ladies who are a part of the weekend's event will be allowed to go onto the field (walk to the center of the field) in Tiger Stadium to be recognized as a group at Pregame before the current Tiger Band takes the field. You do not have to wear any type of special uniform for this. You do need to have a ticket to the game. Everyone who registers will have the option to buy a ticket (or more). Those who purchase tickets through the reunion weekend registration process will be seated together...those who already have tickets will sit in their respective seats in Tiger Stadium.
3. SPECIAL PERFORMANCE UNIFORM.
Alumni Golden Girls who would like to perform with the Tiger Band and Alumni Band at halftime will be asked to purchase a special outfit. The outfit consists of a purple stretch-velvet skort, white long-sleeved top, flesh colored tights, and "pedini" dance shoes. You will be asked to purchase these items from one source. (And yes, spanx will work underneath the outfit!) (Here is a larger picture of the uniform--our shoes will be tan.) Tight sizes can be viewed here. Download an outfit order form. While the deadline was September 10th, you may still be able to order...call the number on the order form ASAP. Again, you do not have to purchase the outfit if you only want to be recognized at Pregame. This outfit is for those performing at halftime. 4. HALFTIME ROUTINES. Alumni Golden Girls will perform routines to "LSU Pregame" and "Hey, Fightin' Tigers." At this time, we will use the choreography from "thirty-ish" years ago. You can order a DVD of the routines here. Note: the camera angle is from the front. The routines are performed as someone would view them. There will also be a special (not-mandetory) "practice afternoon" on Friday, October 30th at Tari's (Tah-REE's) School of Dance. Tari is a former Golden Girl who has built a very successful studio in Baton Rouge, and has trained close to fifty dancers who have become Golden Girls in the last thirty years.
