LSU Drumline
The
LSU Tiger Band Drumline is comprised of approximately 30 members which include
the following instruments: 8-10 snare drums, 4-6 tenors, 6 bass drums, and
8-10 cymbals. Drumline auditions are held in August two days before the
start of the preseason band camp. This camp is generally held one week before
the beginning of the fall semester. Returning members must reaudition each
year for the line. In addition to rehearsing with the Tiger Band, the Drumline
rehearses on Monday evenings and Saturday mornings of game days. Those interested
in more information about the LSU Drumline can read the below flyer, or
can email Assistant Director of Bands Roy
King.
The 2008 Tiger Band Drumline audition date will be Friday, August 15,
2008. NEW for this year...LSU Drumline Workshops. We will offer two
(non-mandetory) workshops for interested students. These workshops will
be held in the LSU Band Hall (behind the Greek Theater) on Saturday, July
19 from 1:00-3:00 pm and Saturday, August 2 from 1:00-3:00 pm.
Unlike wind players who are interested in Tiger Band, percussionists
do not need to schedule an individual appointment to play for the Band staff
before the audition date. (You can if you would like to, if you're interested
in any comments on your playing.) And while you do not need to register
for the August audition, we do need your mailing address.
A 2008 Drumline handbook of audition music, exercises, and LSU school
songs will be mailed in July to all interested applicants. Fill out a Band
Membership Application and we'll put your name on the summer mailing
list.
