The LSU Tiger Marching Band is the largest and most visible single organization on campus with a closed membership of 325 students. Recognized nationally for its outstanding achievements by the John Philip Sousa Foundation in 2002, the Tiger Band is comprised of students from all over the LSU campus.

The LSU Wind Ensemble is the premiere concert organization of the LSU Band Department, and is comprised of the finest wind and percussion students in the School of Music. The ensemble consists of primarily graduate students and upperclassmen.

The LSU Symphonic Winds is comprised of select undergraduate and graduate music majors from the School of Music, as well as non-music majors from other disciplines across campus.

The Symphonic Band is the Band Department's largest concert organization and is composed of musicians from all schools and departments within the University. Membership is by individual audition and is open to all regularly enrolled students regardless of major. The Symphonic Band performs repertoire of the finest in original band music plus orchestral and keyboard transcriptions.

The LSU Bengal Brass Basketball Band is comprised of 72 brass and percussion players selected from the Tiger Band. The Bengal Brass play for LSU men's and women's basketball games, plus selected volleyball and gymnastics meets.
