Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band is the Band Department's largest concert organization and is composed of musicians from all schools and departments within the University. Membership is by individual audition and is open to all regularly enrolled students regardless of major. The Symphonic Band performs repertoire of the finest in original band music plus orchestral and keyboard transcriptions.
Rehearsals are held one day a week in the fall semester and two days a week
in the spring semester. The Symphonic Band meets on Monday afternoon from
3:40-5:30 pm in the fall, and on Monday and Wednesday afternoon during the
same time in the spring. Auditions for chair placement are held on the first
day of class each semester. Audition music can be picked up during registration
week in August for the fall semester ensembles, and the during finals week
in December for the Spring semester ensembles. The ensembles perform one
concert in the fall and two concerts in the spring. The enrollment for each
band numbers approximately 70-100 musicians each semester. Auditions are
open to all interested students. The course number is MUS 4252. The group
is conducted by Assistant Director of Bands, Roy King.
