LSU Symphonic Winds

The LSU Symphonic Winds is comprised of select undergraduate and graduate music majors in the School of Music, as well as other qualified musicians from other disciplines across campus. This ensemble rehearses in the fall semester as a full ensemble on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:40-1:30 pm. In the spring semester, the ensemble rehearses on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:40-5:30 pm.

The Symphonic Winds performs repertoire from original wind band works, chamber works, and selected transcriptions. Auditions for Symphonic Winds are held three days before the beginning of classes in the fall semester. Audition music is available in the Band Office, three days before auditions begin. The ensemble performs one concert in the fall semester and two concerts in the spring semester. Symphonic Winds enrollment averages 60 musicians each year and auditions are open to all interested students. The course number is MUS 4254. This ensemble is conducted by Associate Director of Bands, Dr. Linda Moorhouse.

The 2009-2010 LSU Symphonic Winds have been selected to perform at the 2010 College Band Directors National Association/National Band Association Southern Division Conference in Bixoli, Mississipi in February 2010.
