Graduate Assistantships with the LSU Bands
The LSU Band Department currently offers four graduate assistantships.
Our Graduate Assistants are involved in all facets of the Department's daily
operations from concert ensembles to athletic bands. Additional responsibilities
are coordinated with the qualifications of the applicant. We anticipate
three openings for 2010-2011.
Qualifications: Bachelor or Master of Music Degree or equivalent.
Prospective students must pursue either the Master of Music or Doctoral
of Musical Arts in Wind (Instrumental) Conducting, or a Master of Music Education or a Ph.D. in Music Education.
Additional information on degree programs can be obtained by searching the School of Music website ("Prospective Students").
Stipend: Financial packages vary and include a waiver of tuition.
Master's candidates range up to $12,500 per year. Doctoral candidates awards can range
up to $14,500 per year. Additional performance scholarships are available
from the Band Department as well.
Appointment Date: Beginning of August.
To Apply for Entrance into the Wind Conducting Degree Program: Go online and complete the LSU and School of Music Graduate
Applications (Graduate School Application, School of Music Application). After you have officially applied,
send (1) a letter of intent, (2) a DVD or video tape of both concert and
rehearsal conducting (20-30 minutes maximum), and (3) three letters of recommendation

Deadline: All materials should be submitted by March 31, 2010. Earlier
