Welcome to the Official Web Site of the LSU Bands!

Thank you for your interest in the LSU Bands. With a long history of success, the Band program at LSU offers many types of opportunities and ensembles for students to continue playing their instruments while in college. You do not have to be a music major to participate in the LSU Bands. More than 80% of our LSU Tiger Band is comprised of non-music majors.

All members of the Tiger Marching Band receive a $1,000 scholarship. (Woodwinds, Brass, Drumline, Colorguard and Golden Girls). We also have positions available for Band Managers which pay $1500 for the fall semester.

How to audition for the LSU Bands:
(1) Fill out the online application form. Everyone interested in the program should do this.
(2)
Call the Band Department at 225/578-2384 to schedule an audition.
(3) Schedule before July 1st to audition for Tiger Band and/or the concert ensemble program.
(4) Audition Requirements: chromatic scale, a few major scales, prepared piece (solo, etude, honor band audition material, etc.). You do not need a pianist. Percussionists interested only in Tiger Band do not need to audition at this time. A separate audition will be held in August for the Tiger Band Drumline.

Note: Incoming Music Majors who have been accepted into a studio do not need to audition for the Band Department, unless you play a different instrument from your major instrument for marching band.
